Stranger things- Series Review

I am an ardent fan of Stranger Things. It is a long series aired on Netflix for 5 seasons. It started with kids as young as 12 to 13 years old and built on until their education. It is a very well-made series with a very good storyline, big sets, interesting characters, and their individual personalities. Their interpersonal bonds and communications, love, fights, and a big villain who is hell-bent on killing them and taking over the whole world. Every season, the storyline gets better and better, with many unexpected twists and a lot of supernatural powers. All these elements make it enjoyable , not just because of its grandeur, but with several subplots and the development of each character. There are a lot of deaths involved; many, many characters were on the brink and being saved by a fraction.

This started with four nerds playing Dungeons & Dragons, who are the main characters of the series. D&D is also used symbolically throughout the series. The era of the 1980s is well established by vintage properties, contemporary songs, and the lifestyle of this era. With no mobiles and no internet, everything is communicated by landline telephones, radios, and paper maps. It is set in a small prosperous town. A mysterious girl named Eleven comes to the town, and then the story begins. She has the supernatural power of telekinesis. Then demons called Demogorgons arrive, and in later stages, they get bigger and better. Ultimately, these guys have to fight an interdimensional entity in the Upside Down. These demons can possess the body of one of the four protagonists, making him a spy on the whole town. The families of these four children, the town sheriff, and other misfits also get involved in this battle. Some of them die, whereas others fight with all their available technology. All these elements seem unrelated or far-fetched, but they are woven perfectly into this series. The US government and military are opposing this team, so they have to even fight with them to ultimately defeat the main antagonist.

The last season, especially the final episode, is the epitome of the whole series. Throughout all these seasons, the main antagonist was hinted at but not really revealed. It is only revealed in the last episode where a big battle happens. Its visual appeal, the background music and natural acting, adds to its appeal. The younger siblings of the main five protagonists become a part of the whole series. Many other characters, which I thought would be killed off, played an extensively important role, and some of them managed to survive. The audience witnesses the rebellious nature of adolescence, their relationships, pain as well as facing and overcoming grief and pain. Battles are won in your mind and then on the battleground. On all these accounts, this series gives a different perspective—with unity and good planning, anything can be achieved, and that is what can be and should be achieved.

The first half of the last episode is all about fights—fighting with the antagonists. There are some coincidences which baffle a logical mind. The second half is the most important part of this series. It is all about what happened after the battle. The whole one hour is dedicated to this, in which every plotline is given an appropriate ending.An alternative ending is also proposed, which may not be actual but still a possibility. This possibility is very satisfying. I don't think any other series is wrapped up in such a great way. For this, the creators of the show must be appreciated.

This series has also touched many aspects of life. At many morals, many thinking patterns are challenged. Comradery, motherly love, brotherly bonding, horror, comedy, sacrifices, the frugality of life itself, government oppression, the plight of different, non-normal, misfits conquering unfavorable situations, and remembrance of the lost ones—these and all other such topics are well explored and put in a judicious way. The pain felt by the characters is felt by the viewers. I consider that “hope” is the most important element in the series, and it has definitely affected my thinking process. Fight, fight until you win—I think this is the most important lesson I am taking from this series.
